- In preperation for our filming we undertook a reccie in the studio where we are planning on filming part of our music video.
- As we are planning to film our performance in the studio, we practiced some shots we are going to use, such as a range of CUs, Mid Shots and Long Shots. As we did not have the entire band available for the practice shoot, we practiced these shots using our guitarist.
These are some of the shots we fimed in this session:
- After reviewing our footage, we noticed that we will need to practice using the tracking to ensure that our shots are smooth. This may require us moving the camera slower to make sure that the speed does not change. This is important as we may decided to use a slower cutting rate in the performance of our video and it would be noticable if the shots were not steady.
- We also shot some close up shots of the guitar from varying positions, such as a low angle shot from the base of the guitar and a high angle shot from the top. Although we were happy with these shots, we realised that if the guitar moved a lot and the shot size emphasised this. However, we noticed that these types of shots are usually shown very short amount of time so it would be possible to only show good parts of the shots if we encounter this problem on our real shoot. However, we will still try to practice this shoot to ensure that it is of a good quiality.
- We will think about how we will have to alter some of the shots we practiced when shooting with a whole band and whether we will do anything differently.
- We will try to practice shooting with an entire band before our film shoot to ensure that we are prepared for any problems we might encounter with a different set up.
- As we only had a guitarist for our shoot, we will also try to practice some shots of the drummer that we will use in our final piece. We have thought about the different types of shots often used and looked at how drummers are often filmed in music videos and will try to film some similar shots as well as coming up with some original ideas ourselves.
- We are also going to think about the lighting we are going to use in the studio to create a realistic looking performance.
