- When using Photoshop to make my poster, I used different layers for each picture I inserted which made it easier to move and edit each one. It was also easy to remove any of the background on images I inserted to make sure that only the text was included. I did this by either cropping out the part of the image I didn't need or removing the background and any unwanted colour using the 'magic wand' tool to select the colour. However, this often caused problems as some images had very small sections I wanted to remove which were difficult to select. I overcame this by either zooming in on the section or enlarging the image to make the section easier to select.
- When removing the background from each logo, I usually used the 'magic wand' tool if the background was just a single colour as it was easier to then simply delete the background. However, if the image did not just contain the artist's logo, I would use the 'crop tool' to remove the rest of the image before removing the background. I also used the 'magnetic lasso' tool when the background was not a single colour as it was easier to remove the logo from the image. I also used the tool to ensure that the text around the edge of the poster was the same colour as the V Festival logo.
- I think my finished product is successful of the brief because the information is clear and easy to read from a distance. This is important as it makes the poster stand out and information such as the festival name, place and date as well as the headlining acts are noticeable. I also made the headlining acts at the festival a larger size than the other acts so they stood out more. However, I think that some of the act's logos look too cramped on the page which I didn't notice as I was making the poster. Overall, I think the poster was successful of the brief.
- After printing off my finished poster, I realised that I could have made the poster look neater by having the artist's logos less cramped together. This was because I was usually zoomed into specific parts of the poster to edit individual logos and rarely looked at the whole poster at once. To avoid this problem when using Photoshop in the future, I will either print the product off or look at the full picture at points throughout designing it to ensure it looks good. I would also make sure that all the information is easy to read and clear so that a consumer would be able to read it easily.
