MS: Digipak Design 1

At the beginning of November we began planning the album cover, first developments were going to be related to the album "Four" and it's artwork. However after looking at the simplicity it lacked anything to add interest. I decided to look for minimalist photos and techniques, finding the chess set idea.

Bloc Party's single "Octopus" from the album "Four".
On 09.11.12, I planned a Digipak Photoshoot, whereby I took the preliminary ideas of using a chessboard and pieces, to imitate the couple from our video. I took inspiration from both the simplicity of Bloc Party's first album called Silent Alarm, and combined it with a minimalist photograph of a chess piece. Here are the inspirations:

The Simple black & white design.

Here is the photo that I took inspiration from.

Here are the photos form the shoot:

The king and queen idea, a possibility for the album/single cover.

The Pawns with halos was an accidental shoot that works to a good effect when successfully edited.

A cover idea, cropped and edited later on Photoshop.

The focus on the dominant white pawn, representing the girl in the music video.
